Mahahual Costa Maya
A Costa Maya Treasure
Where Is Mahahual Mexico
Mahahual is located south of Cancun on the Caribbean Sea. The area was once part of the Mayan civilization. You can still visit Mayan ruins in the area and visit with decedents of the Mayan people. The beaches in Mahahual are well maintained and cleaned daily. The white sand is a beautiful contrast to the warm blue ocean waves.
Mahahual Mexico is a quaint town with a malecon and small local shops, eateries and bars. It is very laid back with the great Caribbean vibe. You can find cheap food and drinks up and down the beachfront. Mahahual is one place you must visit at least once in your life. The port of Mahahual is frequented by cruise ships. But most people that get off the ship do not make it to the best part of Mahahual.

Mahahual has activities for all adventure levels. Whether you are looking for an active vacation or just relaxing on one of the most beautiful beaches on the Yucatan. You will find something you love and enjoy doing in the Costa Maya region of the Yucatan.
A trip to Mahahual wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the Lost Kindom of the Maya waterpark. It has slides, a lazy river and relaxing pool. If you have a super adventurous person in your group. They will want to visit the Aerial side of the park. It has A zip line, zip line coaster and the Mayan sacrafic jump free fall. It is located near the cruise port on the north end of the malecon.
If scuba diving is your thing then you will want to check out the numerous dive charters. Just look for their booths along the malecon. Scuba diving is another way to explore the ocean as well.
You will also find numerous locations where you can rent stand up paddle boards. It is a great way to get out in the ocean and get some good exercise at the same time.

Maybe someone in your group is interested in learning how to cook authentic Mexican dishes. Well guess what you can also sign up for a cooking class. Who doesn’t like Mexican food. You could impress your friends back home when you cook them some of the dishes you learned to cook while in Mahahual.
There is no better way to learn about a culture than through its food. I recommend Karlita’s Kitchen Cooking Class if you want to learn and have fun the whole time.
Costa Maya Gastronomy
You will find all varieties of food available here. From Italian, Burgers, Mexican and of course fresh seafood. You will find places to eat all up and down the malecon. TIP: ask for a menu in Spanish. The prices on the Spanish menus are cheaper. But do not forget to have plenty of pesos before arriving in Mahahual. It is hard to find a working ATM. So plan ahead.
For the fullest experience choose a restaurant with outdoor seating or order food from your beach palapa. The food is worth it.
