One thing you must do on your trip to the Yucatan, you don’t want to miss your chance to experience the region’s unique and fascinating cenotes (pronounced say-NO-tays). These natural swimming pools, were sacred spots to the Mayans, can be found scattered around the Yucatan, offering an otherworldly aquatic adventure. Many cenotes are open to the public for visitors to discover otherworldly landscapes whether you’re snorkeling, scuba diving or just exploring. The water is crystal clear and very inviting. Chichén Itzá National Park – A Mayan Treasure
One must do activity when you come to the Yucatan is to take a tour of Chichén Itzá National Park. If you are staying in Cancun, Playa Del Carmen or Tulum you can book a tour with one of the local tour companies. It is a short 2.5 hour drive from the resort areas. The history and culture of the Mayans is outstanding. Our tour guides name was George and he spoke perfect english. By getting a guide you can learn a lot more about the heritage and culture of the local population. It will be icing on the cake. We took a tour bus and on the wayback you could purchase bottles of beer. The tour buses had plenty of bathrooms on board. So when you got back to your resort or hotel you were ready to hit the beach.
Deep Sea Fishing
Nothing is more rewarding than grilling your families dinner from your catch of the day. You can find fishing charters all up and down the coast. Just check with your host or guest services. They may have discounts available or recommend a guide who will put you on the fish. Remember it is customary to tip your guides after the trip.

A trip to the Yucatan would not be complete without a round of golf. The area has public courses for every budget and skill level. The beauty of the courses may make it difficult to concentrate on your game. If you are looking to improve your skills I recommend a trip to the Jack Nickolas Golf Academy in Merida.
